EFL average prices in cents/kWh, including delivery charges. Ranges reflect different delivery (TDSP) territories. Where a Chariot Energyplan is listed without pricing, our review of its pricing formula isn't complete and we don't estimate it. Confirm current rates and terms with the provider before enrolling.
Average prices hide plan-structure differences — a bill-credit plan and a flat-rate plan can share a 1,000 kWh price and behave very differently at your usage. The compare tool estimates every plan at your actual monthly kWh.
Early Termination Fees
Cancellation fees listed in Chariot Energy's current plan documents range from $15 to $99. Some fees are flat; others are charged per month remaining on the contract, which changes the math substantially. The exact amount and structure are stated in each plan's EFL and Terms of Service — confirm there before enrolling. Moving to a new address generally lets you exit a Texas contract without a fee when you provide proof of the move.
Plan Structures Chariot Energy Offers
Chariot's current listings are dominated by the Bright Nights family — free-nights plans offered at 11, 12, 18, 24, and 36-month terms — alongside a simple fixed-rate option (Chariot Choice) and a month-to-month variable plan (Chariot Freedom). The Bright Nights plans in our listings have passed TrueBill's formula review, so their free-window pricing is fully modeled in our estimates.
Contract Options
Chariot offers one of the widest term ranges in our current data: month-to-month variable, and fixed terms at 11, 12, 18, 24, and 36 months.
Does Chariot Energy Use Bill Credits?
Chariot's current listings don't use minimum-usage bill credits — its pricing differentiation is time-based (free nights) rather than threshold-based.
Free Nights & Time-of-Use
Free nights are Chariot's core product. Electricity used during the defined overnight window is free; daytime usage is priced above comparable flat plans to fund it. The economics depend on your overnight share: EV charging, overnight cooling, and night-shift schedules can push a meaningful chunk of usage into the free window. TrueBill's estimates for these plans model the day/night split explicitly.
Renewable Positioning
Chariot markets its plans as 100% solar, reflecting its parent company's solar development business. The formal renewable content disclosure for any plan is on its EFL.
What to Check Before Picking a Chariot Energy Plan
If your overnight share is typical (roughly a quarter to a third of daily usage), a free-nights plan's higher day rate can cancel out the free window. The plans reward genuinely night-shifted load like EV charging.
Free windows differ between plans and versions — when the window starts matters enormously for whether your evening usage counts. The exact hours are on the EFL.
Chariot's plan documents list small per-month-remaining style cancellation amounts on some plans. Confirm whether the fee is flat or scales with remaining term before enrolling.
Who Chariot EnergyMay & May Not Fit
- EV owners who charge overnight — the clearest structural winner for free-nights pricing
- Households that can shift laundry, dishwashing, and pool pumps into the free window
- Shoppers who want solar-marketed plans with a wide choice of contract lengths
- Daytime-heavy usage patterns (home offices, daytime A/C loads) — the elevated day rate works against you
- Anyone who won't actually change when they use electricity; a flat-rate plan is usually cheaper for unchanged habits
