Brokerage Services Currently Offered
TrueBill Energy LLC operates a public website that helps Texas residential electricity customers compare retail electricity offers. The services currently offered are:
- Comparison of publicly available Texas retail electricity plans by estimated monthly cost at a usage level the customer enters
- Cost estimation using rates published in each plan's Electricity Facts Label, the applicable transmission and distribution utility delivery charges, and plan-specific credits, tiers, base charges and fees
- Optional, browser-side processing of a customer-supplied usage file (Smart Meter Texas CSV or Green Button XML) to estimate cost against the customer's own usage pattern
- Links to each plan's Electricity Facts Label and to the retail electric provider's own website, where the customer may enroll directly with that provider
- Educational and informational content about Texas retail electricity pricing, delivery charges, contract terms and renewal timing
- Optional email reminders about a customer's own stated contract end date, where that feature is offered and the customer has signed up for it
TrueBill Energy LLC is not a retail electric provider, transmission and distribution utility, or electricity supplier, and does not sell electricity.
TrueBill does not act as any customer's agent. It has no authority to execute electricity contracts, enroll a customer with a retail electric provider, or switch a customer's retail electric provider, and it does not offer such a service.
Any enrollment, contract, deposit, payment, account or service relationship is solely between the customer and the retail electric provider. Customers should review the provider's Electricity Facts Label, Terms of Service and Your Rights as a Customer document before enrolling.
Affiliated Retail Electric Providers
TrueBill Energy LLC has no affiliated retail electric provider. It is not owned by, does not own, and shares no common ownership or control with any retail electric provider.
TrueBill Energy LLC has no exclusive, preferred, marketing, referral or revenue-sharing agreement with any retail electric provider. If an affiliation or provider agreement is entered into in the future, this page will be updated to identify the provider and describe the relationship before the arrangement takes effect.
Compensation
TrueBill Energy LLC receives no compensation from any retail electric provider — no referral fees, commissions, lead-sale payments, sponsored placement, or ranking fees — and charges customers nothing for the comparison service. Plan rankings are based on estimated cost at your usage. If compensation is introduced, this disclosure and the How We Make Money page will be updated before it takes effect.
Customers pay TrueBill Energy LLC nothing for the comparison service described above, and no charge, fee, deposit or payment method is collected through this website.
For a fuller description of the business model, see How We Make Money and How We Rank Electricity Plans.
Duration of Brokerage Services
The comparison, estimation and informational services are provided on an at-will basis with no fixed term. There is no contract, subscription, enrollment or minimum commitment, and a customer may stop using the service at any time by leaving the website.
Where a customer signs up for optional email reminders about their own contract end date, that service continues until the customer cancels it or the reminders they asked for have been sent. It has no fixed term and no renewal.
Termination and Termination Fees
A customer may terminate TrueBill Energy LLC's brokerage services at any time, for any reason, by discontinuing use of the website. Where a customer has signed up for optional email reminders, they may cancel using the unsubscribe or management link in any reminder email, or by writing to compliance@truebillenergy.com.
No termination fee, cancellation fee, or other cost applies when a customer stops using TrueBill Energy LLC's services.
An early termination fee stated in a customer's contract with a retail electric provider is a charge by that provider under that contract. It is not a TrueBill Energy LLC charge, and TrueBill Energy LLC receives no part of it.
Customer Information
TrueBill Energy LLC does not sell customer information. Proprietary customer information — including electricity usage data, historical consumption, contract information and contract end dates, service territory or ZIP code, and any identifying information a customer provides — is used to provide the services described above and is not released to a third party except with the customer's authorization, as necessary to provide a service the customer requested, or as required by law or regulatory process.
Full details, including how optional usage files are processed, are in the Privacy Policy.
