Every Texas home receives the same physical grid mix — roughly a third of ERCOT generation is already wind and solar. What a “100% renewable” plan adds is accounting: the provider retires renewable energy certificates (RECs) matching your usage, which funds renewable generation on your behalf. It's a real mechanism with a real (usually small) cost, not a different wire to your house.

This list is scoped precisely: plans from providers that market their entire residential lineup as 100% renewable — currently Gexa Energy (NextEra), Green Mountain Energy (NRG), Rhythm Energy, and Chariot Energy. Other providers offer individual renewable-marketed plans too; our database has no plan-level renewable field, so rather than guess we list the providers whose positioning is unambiguous. The authoritative renewable percentage for any specific plan is on its EFL.

The most useful fact in the live table: the renewable label spans the whole price spectrum. In our current data these providers' listings range from among the cheapest plans in the market to among the most expensive — renewable marketing tells you nothing about price.

The scope is provider-level (lineups marketed as 100% renewable), so treat the list as “renewable-marketed options ranked by cost” — and verify any plan's official renewable content percentage on its EFL.

What to Check Before Enrolling

In our current data, some renewable-marketed plans price with the cheapest in the market while others run several cents above it. Never pay a green premium you haven't measured against alternatives.

Plan names aren't disclosures

“Eco”, “Solar”, and “Green” in a plan name carry no regulatory meaning. The EFL's renewable content percentage is the official disclosure — check it, especially on plans from providers outside this list.

Structures still apply

Renewable-marketed plans use the same structures as everything else: bill credits, free windows, base charges. The Notes column flags them; the usual threshold math applies.

Reading the EFL for These Plans

The EFL for every Texas plan includes a “Renewable Content” line stating the percentage of the plan's energy matched with renewable sources — that line, not the marketing, is the enforceable disclosure. Beyond it, read these EFLs like any other: average prices at your usage level, base charge, credit thresholds, free-window hours, and the early termination fee.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does a 100% renewable plan change where my electricity comes from?
No — every home on the ERCOT grid receives the same mix of generation. A 100% renewable plan means the provider retires renewable energy certificates equal to your usage, funding renewable generation in the accounting sense. It's a legitimate mechanism for supporting renewables; it just doesn't route different electrons to your house.
Do renewable plans cost more?
Not inherently. In our current data, renewable-marketed listings span from among the market's cheapest plans to well above average. The REC cost itself is small; the price differences you see are mostly ordinary competitive positioning. Rank by estimated monthly cost first, then let the renewable label break ties.
Why are only four providers on this list?
Because the scope is providers whose entire residential lineup is marketed as 100% renewable — that's a claim we can verify and stand behind. Many other providers sell individual renewable-marketed plans; our plan database has no renewable-content field, so we won't guess at plan-level labels. Check any plan's EFL for its official renewable percentage.
Which renewable-marketed provider is cheapest?
It rotates. Based on active plans today, the live table above shows the current order at 1,000 kWh — in recent data Rhythm and Gexa have listed the lower prices while Green Mountain prices at a premium, with Chariot's free-nights plans depending heavily on your overnight usage share.
